Brad Wilson NEW ROUND -- NEW ROUND -- NEW ROUND
This should be relatively easy:

Sin dunabu splikashon
Nos sa hari, nos a pleita huntu
I pa tur asuntu a bin solushon
I si un dia bo hañabu bo so
Yama i mi ta seka bo

Wrik Chatterjee As to which is the superstrate and which is the substrate? Then is this a mixed language?
Brad Wilson as to the superstrate ... I've always thought Spanish, but others believe it's a related language
Brad Wilson There is def an unrelated language that is the substrate, altho it doesn't show up much in this sample
Jake Kissinger Papamiento? I think it's actually Portuguese-based but has a lot of influence from Spanish, too, and I think with a few creoles that were influenced by both languages it's hard to tell whether a word came from one or the other since Spanish and Portuguese themselves are closely related.
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Attemp1;
Porque tu mi amigo aunque me no ya amabo.
Sin duda explicación.
Nos se jari nos a playa huntu y para todos asuntu a sin solucion. Y si una dia no hañabu no so llama y mi ta seca no.

Brad Wilson Jake, that's exactly the debate/discussion. I don't know Portuguese, but I see the Spanish in Papiamento, so to me it's Spanish-based.
Brad Wilson haha Vincensiu, my Spanish is not so good that I can judge your attempt. :-p But I know that "porque" is not in there.
Wrik Chatterjee (It is) good that my friend without [mi n'yamabu]
Without [dunabu] analysis
...And there's my first try at the first two lines.

Brad Wilson Now that we've established that the language is Papiamento, here are some resources:

Brad Wilson The differences between Papiamento (Aruba) and Papiamentu (Bonaire, Curaçao) are not significant - minor orthographic changes.
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter I am extremely busy atm that I don't even have time for a wank. Long hours work, assignments, exam, and some special event that I need to attend. Unfortunately sps have to wait. Could someone kindly jump in and play?
Billy James Brightraven My guess:
You are my friend even though you don't call me
without giving an excuse
we laughed, we quarreled together
and for every matter, there came a solution
and if one day you find yourself alone
call and I will be near you
You are my friend even though you don't call me
without giving an excuse
we laughed, we quarreled together
and for every matter, there came a solution
and if one day you find yourself alone
call and I will be near you
Brad Wilson Very, very close: {wrong} (close)
You are my friend even though {you} don't call {me}
without giving (an excuse)
we (laughed), we (quarreled) together
and for every matter, there came a solution
and if one day you find yourself alone
call and I will be near you
You are my friend even though {you} don't call {me}
without giving (an excuse)
we (laughed), we (quarreled) together
and for every matter, there came a solution
and if one day you find yourself alone
call and I will be near you
Sarah Karoline An ancient glossary and a little guesswork found me this...
- Even though *I don't call *you
- We *laugh, we *quarrel (or: fight) every day.
- Even though *I don't call *you
- We *laugh, we *quarrel (or: fight) every day.
Billy James Brightraven New:
You are my friend even though I don't call you
without giving you a reason
we laugh, we quarrel together
and for every matter, there came a solution
and if one day you find yourself alone
call and I will be near you
You are my friend even though I don't call you
without giving you a reason
we laugh, we quarrel together
and for every matter, there came a solution
and if one day you find yourself alone
call and I will be near you
Brad Wilson Although it's not the same gloss as my source, it is faithful to the wording. So with that ... WE HAVE A WINNER !!! Congratulations Billy James.
Brad Wilson Here is the full song lyric of Amigu by Izaline Calister from her 2009 album Speransa http://www.izalinecalister.com/cds/lyrics/difiesta/01_dushidia.html
Brad Wilson And yes, I know that Izaline is from Curaçao (Kòrsou), but I'm from Aruba so I chose a photo from Aruba Carnaval.
