Round 147

Round
<< 1< 146148 >282 >>
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri HERE IT IS GUYS!:
Uai 'jua', aio', ea o oa o ua 'oi, o 'oi aia 'ìa
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Uai 'jua', aio', ea o oa o ua 'oi, o 'oi aia 'ìa?
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Let the massacre begin...
Дайте Нефть Из Баку
Дайте Нефть Из Баку Curiously enough, this was one of the options for my round.
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Дайте LOL that's cool, btw I have another chance that I am a bit unsure over it, so I thrown this :3
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo (sorry guys, we are facing a technical problem at the website, codenamed The Wallace bug, one of our Språkspeler deleted her Facebook account, and the system isn't ready for that)
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter At first, I thought it was Hawaiian, then since David said that it was his alternative phrase for the previous round, I assume that it's one of Italian dialect...
so far:
ua - grapes
aia - farm
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Vincenzo nope
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline I've just read all the new posts, and I don't think I can remember them all!

Christian We haven't had Woolworths for years. I think it went into liquidation.
Matteo Congratulations and lots of Viennetta to you!! Hm, did you miss a vowel by any chance...?! lol
Vincenzo di Wales: I don't have any programming skills, but I can touch type and following instructrions! lol
Дайте Нефть Из Баку
Дайте Нефть Из Баку If I'm not mistaken, the first translation is correct.

Arief: is the bug riding a trojan horse and shouting about an Internet free from the despotism of Arief I Sprogplantagenet?
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo The Wallace bug is now fixed.

Although it's not really visible, all previous rounds' Rating has changed (because our overall post count is reduced)

And our Rounds list page (http://sprogspelet.arwi.im/rounds/) now has two "holes" where "Alfia Wallace" was supposed to show up.

I may now sleep in near peace, go for driving class, and then have a stab at Matteo Cheri's all-vowel-except-one-J round :)

Again, thanks Vincenzo Di for reporting the issue.

(I won't appear 22++ UTC as promised earler, probably around 08:00 UTC)
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Arief Thank you ^^ that's so kind! :D
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Дайте Нефть Из Баку, the bug was riding away in a trojan horse instead of coming in :D

Seriously though, I hope nothing bad happened to Sprogspeler Alfia Wallace. Read up her one and only round at http://sprogspelet.arwi.im/round/88/

And no, Språkspelet is a community-guided people-oriented self-sustaining open-society (I can't think of anymore jargons this late at night :P ), not despotism :D
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline Hm...I'm thinking.. :)
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri For everyone that wants to kill me for this round
this was (or is) the second option:
Urindurindericandericandiccusupiccupiccanumaranumarekesundeke.
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline That's the name of the poisonous plant that traps people! :)
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Sarah nope :P
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter let's stick with the

Uai 'jua', aio', ea o oa o ua 'oi, o 'oi aia 'ìa

you give us that thing when you win again Matteo Cheri :)
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline It's well-known in England and Wales. Vincenzo (who can't be tagged) can confirm that! :)
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Vincenzo hahahaha XD
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline Off topic: What is the purpose of making us all trackable, yet at the same time telling us our security is of great importance..

Now I'll get back to hunting down a translation of this sentence!"
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Sarah For the off topic: Profit interest.
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline If we all change our names, wipe our details and set up fake accounts for open sites, there'll be no profit :) "evil laughter"
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Sarah oh well, it's too much work, I'll stick with this for now
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Maria Weidner can you help us here??
I wonder which language is this. Italian normally doesn't use J

also, Matteo Cheri are you sure that
ua = grapes, aia = farm is incorrect?
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri aia is incorrect, but you got ua
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri and remember: NO GOOGLING! Without googling the game it's even funnier :D!
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Uai 'jua', aio', ea o oa o ua 'oi, o 'oi aia 'ìa

uai - Hey
'jua = play
aio' = to me
ea = her
o = or
oa = cry
ua = grape
'oi = today
o = or
'oi = today
aia = garlic
'ia = cart
Maria Weidner
Maria Weidner New game??
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Vincenzo nope, you got only ua
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Maria Weidner yup. Tapi lebih susah, gw jg gk tau bhs apa? Mungkin Veneto juga....
aduh.... pusing!! apalagi gw baru cabut gigi, masih bengkak2
Maria Weidner
Maria Weidner Vinsensiu, you found all the words already? What language is it?
Maria Weidner
Maria Weidner Kacihan!! Tapi kamu ketemu "ua" gimana?
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter nope nope, they are only guesses, I thought it was Veneto, so I am using Venetian dictionary, but Matteo said it was wrong, and the only correct part is:
Ua = grape

kalo yg pai pei poi itu sudah selesai
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Maria, He found only one word
Maria Weidner
Maria Weidner So, it is not Veneto?
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter gw dapat dari kamus Veneto, katanya ua = uva dlm bhs Italia.

http://www.elgalepin.com/

Mungkin kebetulan aja kai ya?
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Tip: It's not Venetian
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter gk tau Veneto apa bukan, maybe yes, maybe no

I thought you might be the expert since you figured out that the last round was Veneto within seconds :p
Maria Weidner
Maria Weidner Iya, mungkin. Tapi dialek itali kan?
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Tip 2: It's not a dialect!
Maria Weidner
Maria Weidner Yes, but this time I am stuck as well... :/
Maria Weidner
Maria Weidner So, a languages spoken somewhere in Italy?
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Maria: Yes! :D
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Gw yakin itu berhubungan dengan Italy, karna Davide gak ikutan, dan dia bilang dia kemarin mau pakai kalimat ini!
berarti itu masih berhubungan dengan Italian/ Latin languages...

maybe Sardu???
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Vincenzo: Yup! That's a dialect of Sardinian
Anna Robbins
Anna Robbins Hah, I knew it must be Sardinian! :D Hello there, I've got too much work to do today, but as always, I will be following the game and commenting if I come up with any guesses :)
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Anna, What were you going to expect from a native speaker? XD
Maria Weidner
Maria Weidner That's hard...
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Maria, that's nothing,
This is hard:
Urindurindericandericandiccusupiccupiccanumaranumarekesundeke.
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter It is hard, but isn't it more fun when it's hard.
Compared to
"Se alguem comete um erro ajudeo ao inves de rir dele"

Sardinian language has got 3 major dialect, now we gotta find out which one is that to decipher all the codes! :D
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri I left the second because it's more of a kid's songs, which hasn't that much meaning, but what I gave seems fun enough ^^
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Oh... How I wished I had time to participate again...
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter maybe we need our Professor Emeritus' help :D

But that also means we gotta be ready for 3 gut-thrusting rounds in a row :p
Maria Weidner
Maria Weidner Matteo, what the he'll...?
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Maria?...
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline What I have so far... is probably wrong!
Uai - (bunch of) grapes
aio' - let's go (help)
ea - water
o - the
ua - grape
oi - today?
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Sarah:
Nope Uai doesn't mean bunch of.
Aiò: you're close...
ea: It's one of those 2
o: nope
ua: yes
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline The dictionary had "uai" as "(bunch of) grapes" :) How about "grapes".
ea - water
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Which dictionary have you used?
Btw, yes that's water! :D and there are 2
Maria Weidner
Maria Weidner Matteo CheriUrindurindericandericandiccusupiccupiccanumaranumarekesundeke referred to this one :)
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline Un vocabulario sardu-italiano, ma soltanto per due parole. "ea" era speculazione! haha
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Maria Ah XD it seems it is in proto-sardinian XD
Sarah: That's not bad for a speculation XD ^^
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline It was luck, Matteo :)
Maria Weidner
Maria Weidner is "jua" a verb?
Maria Weidner
Maria Weidner Matteo Cheri what do you mean, there are two? Two what? :)
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter I found a Logudorese dictionary.
it gives me
jua as a criniera
uai as AAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHHH
Maria Weidner
Maria Weidner ho trovato =júa = criniera..hahaha la criniera della uva!
Maria Weidner
Maria Weidner haha, lucu! :p
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline I got the same for "jua" too.
The cranium of a grape - yay, we got it! :)
"Jua" reminds me of "to play", but I'm wrong, I'm sure...
Maria Weidner
Maria Weidner juare = to be useful?
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline "to be useful" is better!
Maria Weidner
Maria Weidner Grapes are useful? I don't know.. And the conjugation would be wrong, 3. plural doesn't end in "a"
Fahd Mir Jan
Fahd Mir Jan Which language is this?
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline Maria "grapes play" would be very wrong, though. I don't know either :) I think I'm out of luck! I haven't looked at any grammar yet... Good idea!! :)
Fahd: We're translating Logudorese. Can you help us?! :)
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter could be Campidanese, has Matteo confirmed that it is Logudorese??
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Juà isn't intended as a verb, nor it means mane.
Juare doesn't mean "to be useful", and Ju(g)are isn't even mentioned in the phrase, keep trying!
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline Vincenzo I was wrong with "logudorese". It's more likely "campidanese" as water is "abba" in Logudorese. Perhaps it's neither...
Perhaps Matteo can tell us... :)
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Sarah, Nope this isn't nor Logudorese nor Campidanese nor Sa Limba de Mesània, that's Gaddurese (Logudorese) or; italian: Gallurese
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline Thank you!! :) More research... - >
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Hmmm guys, sadly it's nearly bedtime for me now...
Need to go and get something to eat, then shower, then sleep.

anyway CJM is going to be awake in probably 1-2 hours, and he might be able to help you guys... :)
Or if it's still unsolved by the time I woke up, I'll have another go.
Buonanotte a tutti :D
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Vincenzo, Buonanotte!
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline Buonanotte a te, Vincenzo
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri I'm going for today bye and good luck!
Christian James Meredith
Christian James Meredith Not sure how far we've gotten but are a lot of the "o"s "or"s?
Christian James Meredith
Christian James Meredith I feel one is a definite article for some reason but I thought Sardinian definite articles used s-.
Billy James Brightraven
Billy James Brightraven si, from < CL. ipse-
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Hasn't progressed much, has it?
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Matteo Cheri (and others), Jose Jalapeno on a Stick (the one I mentioned earlier): http://youtu.be/QgNKI2CRQFo

Merantau (the Indonesian martial arts movie Christian James Meredith mentioned): http://j.mp/19p2pti

And thanks to Vincenzo Di's suggestion (in private chat), all Alfia's old posts are restored from my database backup, and will always be archived. I changed the archiving logic:
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Now I shall divert my attention to this round :P
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter so are we all agree that jua = craniera??
Christian James Meredith
Christian James Meredith Arief Wibowo his eyes are REALLY blue in one of those pictures :P
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Interesting, I just noticed that. Btw, Tom Yum Goong 2 is coming soon! :P (same genre, but I personally like Tony Jaa more than Mas Iko Uwais)
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Ngomong apa seh? THH....
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Vincenzo Di, Merantau :P
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter I'm tempted to go out and leave my nest. Enjoying a bit of sunshine and some warm (disgusting) air,
so brb and hopefully some of you made a progress and also some fresh idea popped up in my mind while I was away.
I'll be on my galaxy to keep an eye on this thread :D
Christian James Meredith
Christian James Meredith Arief Wibowo you're the second person to tell me about actor :P
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo That makes both of us credible, and you should add: Tom Yum Goong (The Protector) and Ong Bak 1-3 to your towatch list :D
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo About the round, if I read correctly, this is our current state:
Grape cranium(/skull?), [aio'], water [o] [oa] [o] [ua] ['oi], [o] ['oi] [aia] ['ìa]

The abundance of "o"s make me think it's either conjugation or article.
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Arief uai is not grape.
Ua is!
I think craniere means pony/mane...
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Whoops, bad eyes and bad Latin :P

Then:
[Uai] craniere, [aio'], water [o] [oa] [o] grape ['oi], [o] ['oi] [aia] ['ìa]
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline Another summary of what we have so far, based on what Matteo said yesterday:

"aio" is "close to" "let's go" [Perhaps "help"]
"o" isn't "the"
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo In Indian and Chinese languages, aiyo! (short for aiyayo!) is a cry for help ("oh no!" in English)

(edited so many times because I can't get it politically correct :P )
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline Arief "Aio" also sounds like one of Jupiter's moons, but I doubt it's that. haha
I've not made any differences on the text since yesterday, as you can tell. I shall try again later this afternoon, unless you, Billy Maria and Christian have finished it by then!
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo But a cry for help is quite close to "let's go"/"help" :P
Another possibility is it's the command for the horse to move (one of those gee-haw thing)
Fahd Mir Jan
Fahd Mir Jan Arief, that's true for South Indian Dravidian languages. Not for the Indo-European languages of the north.
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo I see, thanks for correcting me, Fahd Mir Jan
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Aio = ayo in Indo???
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Vincenzo Di, I don't think they are related. However, "haiya" is
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline And another hint from Matteo yesterday: "Yes, that's water. There's two".

I shall now venture into the storm, and shall return later if it doesn't transport me to Miðgarðr!
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Beware of sharks, Sarah Karoline! :P
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter wikipedia says Gallurese is related co Corsican..
and seems like j is pronounced like Dutch "j"
so we are dealing with all vowels here :(
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter aia e una indicativo imperfetto d verbo ausiliari "avere"
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Ok, I'm back, could you post the last translation down here, so that I can verify?
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Matteo Cheri, the latest is:
[Uai] craniere/pony/mane, [aio'], water [o] [oa] [o] grape ['oi], [o] ['oi] [aia] ['ìa]
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Oh wait, I just noticed Vincensiu Dionisiu's message. Assuming I read it correctly (aia = avere in Italian = have in English), so the latest is:
[Uai] craniere/pony/mane, [aio'], water [o] [oa] [o] grape ['oi], [o] ['oi] have ['ìa]
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo New guess, "o" probably is "e" (Italian), means "and".

Or simply "o" (Italian), meaning "or" :P
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Jua' isn't mane...
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri and 'ia isn't a verb
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Tip 3: Gallurese is related to Corsican partially, because it mostly shares grammar, and not that much of vocabulary.
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Hmmm... Pardon my lack of knowledge, but isn't Corsican a dialect somewhere in France? -- Interesting how it shares grammar with a dialect somewhere around Italy :)
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter true that. Corsica is an island situated in the North of Sardinia, but it's owned by France
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo A ha! Because if I remember correctly, French ESC 2011 entry is Corsican.. Will research more 22++ UTC later :)
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Arief Yes Corsica is in French territory and shares much more with Italy than with France, actually Corsican is a mix of Genoan and Pisan dialects, with in addiction, the French influence for obvious reasons
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Geee... no progress?? Where is everyone???
Anna Robbins
Anna Robbins Unfortunately a bit too busy to join, but if it hasn't been solved by tuesday I shall give my input :)
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo I can't get any more words out of http://www.ditzionariu.org/home.asp?lang=eng :/
Christian James Meredith
Christian James Meredith I'll come By and have a stab at this in a sec I
Christian James Meredith
Christian James Meredith Think (ごめん、いま日本語でタイピングをしっているですから、ちょっとMessyだな)。
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Christian James Meredith seems corrupted :P
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo By the way, current guess is:
[Uai] ['jua'], [aio'], water and [oa] and grape ['oi], and ['oi] have ['ìa]
Christian James Meredith
Christian James Meredith This is one of those awkward moments where I'm not sure if I'm looking up Sardinian or Sicilian words.

"Uai 'jua', aio', ea o oa o ua 'oi, o 'oi aia 'ìa" ne...

<something> help <something>, water or eggs or grape(s) today, ___, or today have already ??

IDK, this is pretty damn hard. The terms are too unwieldy to look up without accidentally spoiling the entire thing, and we're lacking a lot of context :P
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Oh iya, I forgot e=and, o=or.

Now, what can be made out of water or eggs or grapes?
(emphazie on "or", not "and", meaning any one of them would do)
Christian James Meredith
Christian James Meredith Something that probably tastes pretty damn weird
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Out of curiosity I searched for "water egg grape" in Google, and the first 2 results are recipe for "Dolmathes Avgolemono" or Stuffed Grape Leaves in Egg-Lemon Sauce http://j.mp/HqepjD
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Christian you got some words, but not everithing.
Uai 'jua', aio', (water or eggs or grapes) 'oi, o 'oi aia 'ìa
This would be the last version, you've done a phrase! Not bad :D!
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter so jua is not craniere?? Golly gosh....
not sure if it's just coincidene

uva -> ua = grape
ova -> oa = eggs
are there any hidden "v" in between all these vowels?

So my hypothesis:
aio - avion?

Since Gallurese and Corsu are related, I decided to dig deeper on Corsu field. I have been looking for Corsican word that contains "oi" and so far I only found 2:
voi and poi.
aia might be related to avere or one of its conjugation.....

2 days and I'm going nowhere :'(
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline The storm transported me further than I thought, but I was still able to look some words up in a variety of Italian dialect dictionaries. Sadly the only word I was "rather certain" of was "o". Could the others be compouneded preposition-articles?
Like Christian I'm still not sure which dialect/s this text is written in :)
Like Vincensiu I too am going nowhere. I too wondered about "poi"
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Vincensiu Gallurese is related to Corsican mostly in grammar! Corsican wouldn't help you with vocabulary!
Sarah, Christian This is Gallurese, Sardinia's northern dialect
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Vincensiu: so and so there's a somewhat hidden v between those vowels.
Nope aiò isn't avion!
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline Matteo: Two days ago I found "let's go" as a translation of "aio' ". Is that totally wrong? Thank you for the confirmation of the dialect! [ps. for some reason I can't tag you]
Marco Airaghi
Marco Airaghi ahah. o Sarah Karoline it's right and it can be also c'mon! or also hi! but i'm not sardinian. i lack details
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Sarah Yes it is, but it has more than one meaning
that Marco just got LOL!
Marco Airaghi
Marco Airaghi may i say i did not get a single word about this topic?
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Marco You got one.
Marco Airaghi
Marco Airaghi yep lol
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter OK, I just had grilled crumbed fish and as per Christian's recommendation I had spider for my dessert.
Now that I am fueled up, my brain will work better :D

Uai 'jua', {exclamation!}, (water) (or) (eggs) (or) (grapes) 'oi, o 'oi aia 'ìa

As a tongue-twister I'm sure the grammar will be a mess....

BTW Matteo, what do you mean by so and so?? cosi cosi??
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Vincensiu It's because in Gallurese it is ua, ea and oa that gets "completed" by Sassarese which is related to Gallurese with ua, eba and ova, so I wrote so and so because those words get "completed" by Sassarese but stay like this in Gallurese.
I don't know it this has been a good explanation...
Marco Airaghi
Marco Airaghi why do you talk about italian and i cannot get the point?
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Marco Questo non è Italiano, questo è Sardo Gallurese.
This is not Italian, this is Gallurese Sardinian. If you were referring to the Sprogspelet...
Marco Airaghi
Marco Airaghi aggiu capit' ma non capisco il soggetto-tema del verbiare.
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Marco Fa parte del gioco, cercare di capire il significato della frase (traducendola in inglese) e si parla per cercare di prendere più indizi (o informazioni) possibili
Marco Airaghi
Marco Airaghi capito. ero confuso:P
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter I'm totally stucked...
I think it's the time to summon our Professor Emeritus
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Thou shalt help us :D
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Lol I didn't think this Sprogspelet would have been this difficult XD
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Sorry, I'm busy, but I can take a look later. :)
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline Sono molto confusa anche, Vicensiu :)
Is "uai" a plural noun, Matteo? [Once again I can't tag..]
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter I agree with CJM. The words are difficult to be searched. Limited resources and strange words. Too short, no consonant. Aiyoooo!! (in Malaysian Cantonese accent)
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Im going to bed now... hopefully I can find some idea while surfing in dreamland. Ni nite....
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Night Vincensiu
Sarah nope.
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Matteo Cheri, our longest round so far is 214:45:17 (almost 9 days) :P

The challenging part is that all links in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gallurese_dialect#External_links are no longer available :(

We can only rely on other languages:
Lexical similarity: 83% with standard Italian [ita], 81% with Sassarese [sdc], 70% with Logudorese [src], 66% with Cagliare dialect of Campidanese Sardinian [sro].
http://www.ethnologue.com/language/sdn
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Дайте maybe you can help us?
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Did someone suggested jua = play?
Christian where did you get the "egg" from??
Oh and why there's an espurr in your profile :p
Christian James Meredith
Christian James Meredith ESPURR SEES ALL O_O
Christian James Meredith
Christian James Meredith oa looks like ova (plural of ovum)
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline Vincensiu "Jua" is similar to "jugar". I'd wondered if it was "add" but that's far fetched.
Christian James Meredith
Christian James Meredith Vincensiu I just thought Espurr looked ridiculously blank-faced and thought it was hilarious so I adopted it as my profile picture :P
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter ok, so you are on the same boat with me regarding to the hidden V theory....
X or Y?
Christian James Meredith
Christian James Meredith I haven't got either yet sadly :( And yeah, I'm on the hidden v boat, because frankly I can't rationalise this any other way :P
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Sarah That's how I got the idea...
I"m pretty desperate so I just linked the phrase to whatever vocabulary I know from other Romance languages

Christian So you are not X or Y but V :)
Christian James Meredith
Christian James Meredith I'm just confused now, are we talking about pokemon or eggs? Or maybe pokemon eggs?
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter or egg pokemon? Togepi?
CJM actually you give me a new idea...
since this is a tonguetwister, is name involved here???

I like Sarah's idea about 'add', but I couldn't link any of them to add....
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter uai -> (V)uai -> vuoi?
jua -> iua -> ayuda -> aiuta
o -> oro???
aia -> alla
'ia -> e'ia -> ella?

Matteo, need some clues here? Are there any names? or pronoun??
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline Vincensiu I ran out of dictionaries a few days ago, so thinking of Romance words is all I can do. I'm in dispair!

A few days ago Matteo said that "aio" is "close" to "let's go" (a translation I'd found in a dictionary), but what that may be, I don't know...

I too keep thinking about "vuoi", "poi"

I thought up the word "add" as a far-fetched variation of "jua". Too many letters would be eliminated to reach that point though, and "gi" would change to "j".
If "ua" is "grape", is "uai" likely to be "grapes".

So many questions and uncertainties! :)
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Sarah, I think you have twice mentioned Marco instead of Matteo (Matteo's this round's host) :)
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline Oh noooo....... It was an editing error. Inititally I'd written "Matteo told Marco...." Sorry, Matteo!
[Sarah is tomato-red :)]
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo :D

Btw, if the last round crossed paths with Chinese/Vietnamese, this round intersected with Hawaiian...
This is indeed a massacre! :P
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Hi folks, I'm back, so let's recapitulate:
Uai 'jua', aio', ea o oa o ua 'oi, o 'oi aia 'ìa
[Uai jua] come on (Found by Marco), water or eggs or grapes['oi, o 'oi aia 'ia]
You're at a good point, so I decided to be less evil and give a tip as asked by Vincensiu: There's a name.
Дайте Нефть Из Баку

Дайте Нефть Из Баку I can't send you PMs.
It's tiny in appearance but extremely useful if you can sort it out.
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo A ha, I missed Marco Airaghi's findings, sorry :D
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter I wonder which one is the name?
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri 23 hours and nothing... lol
Дайте Нефть Из Баку
Дайте Нефть Из Баку Oh, bugger it, I'll give it anyway: it's not "juà" but "Juà".
Billy James Brightraven
Billy James Brightraven John?
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Hmmm, now that we got the name (Jua, John, Jean or whatever it is) let's rearrange what we have got.

Uai 'jua', aio', ea o oa o ua 'oi, o 'oi aia 'ìa

Uai (Jua)', (Let's go), (water) (or) (egg) (or) (grape) 'oi, o 'oi aia 'ìa

Now I'm sure that Uai must be an exclamatory marker

since there are few nouns, seems like choices are being offered here.
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Good Vincensiu, you got it :D!
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Vincensiu both answers!
Christian James Meredith
Christian James Meredith well John, let's go, water, or egg or grape (??)...
Is there something about oil in here?
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Things associated with grapes that I can think of: grape seed, grape oil, grape juice, wine...

aia
From Latin ārea. Cognate to Italian area.
Meanings:
* farmyard (the square courtyard in the middle of a casa colonica)
* threshing floor
http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/aia#Italian

Putting that into test:
Well Jua/John, let's go, water, or egg, or grape X, or X area ['ia]

I can't figure out what's a suitable X, but ['ia] is most likely a question word...
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Sorry ppl Im back to work again. My first day back to work was sooo busy that I didn't even get a break. No chance to participate... and Im wery wery sweepy now :$
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Matteo Cheri and Дайте Нефть Из Баку, more hints please :D
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo The game is suffering another temporary dodmati/death :(
Дайте Нефть Из Баку
Дайте Нефть Из Баку Italian "aia" doesn't exactly translate as "farmyard", rather as something more specific. Sardinian "aia" is more or less related to it.
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo According to bab.la,
"menare il can per l’aia" means "to beat around the bush"

aia=bush?

Another possibility is Hague (as in, The Hague, Netherlands) :P
(hedge, lane)
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Uai = hey!
'Oi = quoi?
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Vincensiu: you got Uai! :D
Arief: aia isn't area nor farmland nor threshing floor...
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Hey, Jua come on! Water or egg or grape, which? Or which box you want?
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Vincensiu: from graper it's almost everything wrong. You got "you want"
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Has it got smthg to do with:
Aia che male???
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Vincensiu nope. But I can tell you that it's a substantive
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Aia: wood? Hut?
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Vincensiu
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvdf5n-zI14
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Guessing based on Vincensiu Dionisiu's:
Hey Jua, c'mon! Water or egg or grape eh*? Or what other stuff do you want?

*"eh" as in asking someone to choose
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Arief nope, but it isn't that far
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Hey Jua, Come on! water or egg or grape, huh? Or something you want?
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline Just a quick post: I haven't had time to venture further with my quest to translate the text. I'm glad Vincensiu, Christian and Arief are making quick progress! :)
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Vincensiu that's not huh and that's not something.
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Hey Jua, Come on! water or egg or grape, which? Or which food do you want?
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Vincensiu http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvdf5n-zI14
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter sigh...
['oi, o 'oi aia 'ia]

brainstorming......
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri I hate being evil, so I decided to give ONE last tip, it's up to you on which I should give the tip.
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter not yet... let me figure it out until I completely stucked,
unless the others want some tips
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Ok, let the massacre continue for some more time...
*evil laugh*
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter I do realise that some consonants were purposely removed to make this phrase more cryptic.
I'm just trying to find out which consonant can be slipped into "aia" and where should I position it....
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline Is there any chance "ia" is "gia" (already)? Probably not, I imagine :)
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Sarah http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvdf5n-zI14
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline Hahaha I didn't think so!
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Aviva (french)? :P
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Ok, I need some hint, what are the ('oi)s?
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Arief http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvdf5n-zI14
Vincensiu if the requests for the hint are enough I'll give it
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo I would like to request for that hint too :D
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Now there are 2!
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Probably the guy is AIA (insurance) agent, and he is offering water/egg/grape insurance packages to Jua :P

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AIA_Group_Limited
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Arief lolnope XD
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Seriously though, I can't think of a case where we select between (water || egg || grape)

Or more completely: between (water || egg || grape "'oi" || "'oi aia")
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri A little hint:
The 2 "oi" are verbs and are the same word.
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo A ha, so the selection is only between (water || egg || grape)... Some sort of appetizer/dessert?
Christian James Meredith
Christian James Meredith Whoever wins, please speak a language with consonants. Thank you.
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Christian Lol I don't speak Gallurese XD, btw I understand it with not much effort
Christian James Meredith
Christian James Meredith Your brain is clearly superior to mine ;_;
This round has crushed me :P
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Christian James Meredith is now crushed into Iian Jae Eei :P
(it somewhat resembles Korean names though :P )
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Christian Lol
I'm just Sardinian and I love languages, that's it :P
I already speak 4 languages (including my native languages) well and I can speak another 2/3 languages in different (and lower) levels XD
Arief XD Juà hasn't nothing to do with Korean XD it is the abbreviation for Juanne (John/Johann) or Giovanni in Italian, in Sardinian it's a common thing, we always abbreviate names like this, meanwhile in northern Italy they add a definite article, for example:
La Giovanna, Il Matteo etc...
Christian James Meredith
Christian James Meredith the use of a definite article reminds me of Indonesian Si (is that the right spelling? Or does it need a -h at the end?).
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Christian I don't know anything of Indonesian XD the only thing I know is that Bahasa means language, so you have to ask to someone else XD
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Matteo Cheri, I was referring to the "crushed" Christian James Meredith's name without consonants (except "J") :P
→ Iian Jae Eei

"Si Christian", without "h" :D
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Matteo Cheri, don't worry, you are bound to pick up Swedish and Indonesian words here.

For example, stjälcuri (the most famous Sveindo* word) means to collaborate (from stjäl + curi, both literally means to steal) :D

* http://sprogspelet.arwi.im/sveindo/
Christian James Meredith
Christian James Meredith I am Si Yan Jae Ee. I come from future-Chinanesia.
Christian James Meredith
Christian James Meredith Matteo Cheri don't worry, there's plenty of Indonesians involved in this game, so I just randomly ask things about Indonesian mid-comment and someone will pick it up xD
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Christian Lol, good to know XD
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Speaking of which, I haven't seen our Swedish counterparts in a while... Malin Elisabeth Nilsson, Billy James Brightraven, Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström It's a Swedish holiday right now. "Weekend".
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo According to my record, we don't... We do have a Vietnamese round recently though, by Maria Weidner (http://sprogspelet.arwi.im/round/132/)
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Update me on the sentence and the progress, would you?
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Matteo Cheri's round:
Uai 'jua', aio', ea o oa o ua 'oi, o 'oi aia 'ìa

Latest guess by Vincensiu Dionisiu (removed wrong parts):
Hey Jua, Come on! water or egg or grape ['oi], or ['oi] [aia] you want?

Hints:
Both ['oi] are the same verb, [aia] is a noun
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri P.S 'ia isn't you want, I said that it was correct because in a translation it would have been there! so the round is still at
Hey Jua, Come on! water or egg or grape ['oi], or ['oi] [aia] ['ìa]?
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri P.S 'ia isn't you want, I said that it was correct because in a translation it would have been there! so the round is still at
Hey Jua, Come on! water or egg or grape ['oi], or ['oi] [aia] ['ìa]?
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri With this I gave you the ultimate tip (and last :P, maybe) with some reasoning you could get forward! Come on guys!
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Thanks, Matteo Cheri. Your hint brings me to:
Hey Jua, Come on, (do you) want water or egg or grape? or you want [aia] [ia]?
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Arief Great! Now you need effort of unimaginable strength!
Let the games begin...
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Unfortunately for me, my curfew starts in a minute, will be back 22++ UTC later... I'll let others stjälcuri from me :)
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Could aia be garlic, maybe? Nah, wrong final vowel...
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Victor http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvdf5n-zI14
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström At least in Italian it's supposed to be a "yard" of sorts, and the Gallurese equivalent looked nothing like that.
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Maid?
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Victor http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvdf5n-zI14
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Ia could be instead?
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Victor neither
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Aia, is that "you have had"?
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Do you want to have that?
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Victor nope, that's not àia but that's aìa! the meaning is different
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline àia = threshing floor [far too obscure to be the correct word, I'm sure, so let's pretend I didn't suggest it :) ]
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Sarah nope XD àia means literally "had"
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Then I wasn't too far off? :/
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Oookay...
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline I was about to suggest "àia" is "air"..
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Matteo, then àia means "had"?
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Victor With àia; the word in question is aìa
REMEMBER IT'S aìa NOT àia!
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Victor àia isn't in the phrase!
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Ahaa.
Christian James Meredith
Christian James Meredith Oh lord this is getting confusing xD
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri aìa is!
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Nor is aìa, to be precise.
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Could we get the full sentence again, with all the correct diacritics? :P
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Victor accents are omitted commonly, but in this case I empathized on it due to being important in the meaning, for the phrase, give me a minute...
Christian James Meredith
Christian James Meredith Ah I think I see what happened, what you said Matteo Cheri "nope, that's not àia but that's aìa! the meaning is different" followed by the later comments sorta gave the impression that one of them was have and the other was had, which led to this confusion situation we're in :P
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline What we have so far:
Original phrase: Uai 'jua', aio', ea o oa o ua 'oi, o 'oi aia 'ìa
Translation so far: Hey Jua, Come on, (do you) want water or egg or grape? or you want [aia] [ia]?
Christian James Meredith
Christian James Meredith Språkspelet - half the fun is figuring out the phrase, the other half is figuring out the thread because all the participants are writing at a thousand words a minute! :D
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Does "aìa" mean "ouch"? :P
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Wikipedia gives it as "had". :/
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström àia, however, could mean "fowl".
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline Isn't the word we're looking for "aia"...? [Confused]
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo I think I contributed to the problem as well. The last two words according to the starter post is aia (no-frills) and 'ìa (with a quote, grave-accented i, and normal a). Sorry :D Having that said, Matteo now say it's aìa (with grave i) now. I am confused :P
Christian James Meredith
Christian James Meredith "Hey Jo, come on, do you want water or egg or grape? Or do you want ayam goreng?"
https://i.chzbgr.com/maxW500/7865121792/h9E8D6083/
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline Thank you Arief :) Ajajaj!
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Arief as I said I wrote it in order to not get confusions with àia, that it is had, meanwhile in the text, even if it's omitted, it's aìa.
The problem is that I got the inverse result XD
Christian please stop I'm hungry and lunch isn't ready :(
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström And aìa apparently means "I/he/she/it had" according to Italian Wikipedia. :P
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Sorry Matteo, I am using old school mobile phone, conversations are not updated as quick as our Live page :D
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström I think this tells us everything...: "Ancora non abbiamo inserito una descrizione per la parola aia"...
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Could "aia" mean "forward"? :/
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline http://www.verbix.com/webverbix/go.php?D1=12&H1=112&T1=aere ["aia" = "had" here]
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström I know. :/
Christian James Meredith
Christian James Meredith "or do you wanna go ahead?"
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Definitions so far of àia/aìa/aia: had, fowl, vulture, no one (f.), forward (avanti), maid.
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline Logos also provided the translation as "threshing floor"!
In questo momento sono confusa ... :)
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström I think that's Italian, Sarah. :P
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline Si, ho scritto nel'italiano! hahaha
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Wait, it could mean "female bear" and "ouch" as well. :P
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline A word for all purposes. A bit like "ställa" :)
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo I mentioned aia in Italian means farmyard and threshing floor. Davide said aia means something more specific (in Italian), and this aia is more or less related to it.
Christian James Meredith
Christian James Meredith Can we still translate it to threshing floor anyway? Just for shits and giggles?
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström "Or do you want a threshing floor, half-price?"
Christian James Meredith
Christian James Meredith Oh, is that why someone brought up "yard" before?
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline Hey Jonnie, c' mon, ya wan' wa'er or egg or grape? or ya wan' a threshin' floor ma', ouch!
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Someone'd be me. :P
Christian James Meredith
Christian James Meredith Hello Someone. That's a Korean name pronounced /sʰomʌne/, right?
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström You Bet! /jʊ̀ pʰɛ́t/
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Okay, Matteo, does it mean "area"? :P
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline "ai" is an interjection meaning something like "ouch" as Victor said earlier. [interj ; pr: «ài» (ai). Expressió de dolor. Ai!, no me toquis la ferida]
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström My thought was that it was related to "àhia", 'ouch'. They do skip all possible consonants.
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri TIP (to get out of the confusion)
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline And there are so many possible consonants to omit! [Sigh...."]
Дайте Нефть Из Баку
Дайте Нефть Из Баку You're one to talk about skipping consonants, you freaking Swede. I still have troubles with ghost Gs.
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Lugn, Davide! ;)
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri 1) GALLURESE AND SARDINIAN AREN'T RELATED TO ITALIAN, so don't waste time searching on Italian vocabularies
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström I HAVEN'T, I AM USING GALLURESE AND SARDINIAN DICTIONARIES! :P
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri 2) This word is related to Latin, not to Italian...
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Victor Lol, so use the tip nr 2 I gave now...
Дайте Нефть Из Баку
Дайте Нефть Из Баку I must admit at this point that "aìa" doesn't mean what I thought it meant. Sorry if I mislead you, guys.
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström And it isn't any of those we have mentioned? :P
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline David:
G + Consonant or A, O, U, Å = Hard G as n go.
G + E, I, Y, Ä, Ö = Soft G as in "yes".
:)
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Victor not a single one.
and as I said, aìa isn't a verb, but a substantive.
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström I've mentioned 6 nouns... :(
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Victor It's just to avoid confusion with àia (had)
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Victor Btw, it isn't any of the 6 nouns you gave before, sorry :P
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Guh... :P
Дайте Нефть Из Баку
Дайте Нефть Из Баку Sarah: I meant peek-a-boo Gs like the ones in "jag", "morgon" and "lugn".
Victor: jag är lugn. Men förvirrad. :(
Дайте Нефть Из Баку
Дайте Нефть Из Баку Wait, I re-read the latest posts and maybe, just maybe, "aìa" actually means what I thought it meant.
Can you confirm that it's somewhat related to a "farm", Matteo?
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Дайте nope
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Is it food? (20 questions) :P
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Victor It could be for someone :P
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström An animal then? :P
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline Det är roligt att lära g-uttalet i svenskan! :)
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Victor Yup
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline Still can't find another noun translation for "aia"...
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Is it a bird, Matteo? :p
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Victor Yep, you got it :D!
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri now it's only missing 'ia
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström But I wrote "fowl" earlier... :(
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Does the apostrophe indicate an omitted consonant? :P
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Victor, in fact that's not fowl, that's bird, it's in general!
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Victor in this case, for 'ia yes
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström I have a few suggestions for that. Frozen, maybe? :P
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Victor nope
Дайте Нефть Из Баку
Дайте Нефть Из Баку Quite the opposite, actually.
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Heated? :P
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström And by the way, Davide, in my dialect, final <g> is almost non-existent! ^^ Sometimes.

And -ar verbs only have one form, except if the pitch is different, and quite a few verbs conjugate as strong verbs! ^^
Дайте Нефть Из Баку
Дайте Нефть Из Баку I reckon you could say it's heated, only not from the outside.
And, yes, I still remember that Swedish dialect round from months ago.
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Just "warm" then? Thawed? ^^
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Victor if you're talking about ['ia] it doesn't mean warm...
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Is it "hot"...? :P
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström "Hey Jua, Come on, do you want water or egg or grape? Or do you want a hot bird..?"
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Victor Hey Jua, Come on, do you want water or egg or grape? Or do you want a [hot] bird? 'ia isn't hot...
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Is it related at all? :P If not, Davide confused me a bit! ^^
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline burned...?
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Victor, yes, it's somewhat related, but warm is more related with that
Sarah it's not burned
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Lukewarm, tepid?
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Victor nope, that's not related in means of temperature
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström A hearty, kind, bird? :)
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter My God. It has been quiet for weeks now Im away for few hours and I got a lot to catch up. Im at work sadly :(
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Victor You're not too far from it...
Дайте Нефть Из Баку
Дайте Нефть Из Баку "Warm" is indeed a feature of this particular bird. And if it's warm then it is...
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Cozy! ^^
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline cooked :)
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Hey Jua come on! Do you want water or egg or bird or do you want a nice bird?

Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Microwaved?
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline warmed up
Дайте Нефть Из Баку
Дайте Нефть Из Баку I think this will need a bit of contextualization when solved. "Cozy" and "microwaved" really killed me.
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Hey Jua, Come on, do you want water or egg or grape? Or do you want a sweating bird..?
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline hahaha
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Vincensiu lol, when this thing was made microwaves didn't even exist XD
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri lol Victor XD
Дайте Нефть Из Баку
Дайте Нефть Из Баку "Warmed up" is actually even better than "warm", but still not the right word.
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline "real warmed up"!
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline "toasted"
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri You're so near but even too far to see the right answer...

Дайте Нефть Из Баку
Дайте Нефть Из Баку To clarify, the term isn't usually related to "warm".
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Vincensiu Victor:
This is a death metal song , not the text I gave you! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gNhN6lT-y5U
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline Is that its swan song?! :)
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Died?
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Yeah we did everything, it should have died by now!!
Дайте Нефть Из Баку
Дайте Нефть Из Баку Matteo, il problema è che anche nello slang "bird" si riferisce al massimo a una ragazza. Non c'è nessun punto in comune con il significato italiano.
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Hot chick!!
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Is it just angry?
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Vincensiu you're near... so fucking near
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Yeah my Italian flatmate used to say "I got some bird" when he hooked up for NSA with a girl!
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Hot girl!
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline "bird" does refer to the animal but these days it's rarely used like that though, Дайте
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter OMG are you all over 18 here??? How can i delete post on mobile?
Audrey Miller
Audrey Miller lol
Дайте Нефть Из Баку
Дайте Нефть Из Баку Vincensiu: so perhaps you know that Italian slang uses "bird" in place of...
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline Posts by mobile are permanent, Vincensiu! :) :)
Audrey Miller
Audrey Miller I can't delete on mobile. it is getting buried fast, though lol
Дайте Нефть Из Баку
Дайте Нефть Из Баку I think we're all over 18 here, with the possible exception of Christian (who's sleeping, so he doesn't count).
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline If we press "hide" it disappears, Vincensiu!
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Pussy?
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline Yes
Дайте Нефть Из Баку
Дайте Нефть Из Баку Nope, the other option.
Audrey Miller
Audrey Miller I'm out all, lots to do. I think vincensiu is right.
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline The text is about an animal, isn't it...
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter No. you can delete a comment. I typed pussy b4, above "over18" post. I deleted that
Audrey Miller
Audrey Miller later :-)
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Thirsty? :p
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline "on fire" ie. havin' a great time.
Дайте Нефть Из Баку
Дайте Нефть Из Баку Sarah, not quite. That's what I was talking about with Matteo. English slang doesn't use "bird" in the same way as Italian.
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Is it a "chick"? :P
Дайте Нефть Из Баку
Дайте Нефть Из Баку Incredibly huge hint: I am warm right now. I'm not being cooked, my house isn't on fire and my bowels aren't stuffed with burning coals. Therefore by all means I must be... ?
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Excited? :P
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline some more alternatives: braised, fricassed, ... (aaargh! :) )
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Happy? :) Sad? :( Irritated? :/
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Hot?
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline Having a power surge.
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline Lukewarm.
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter We tried that! Hot sick fever... unwell... febrile...
Дайте Нефть Из Баку
Дайте Нефть Из Баку Victor: I'm doing a translation from a Russian article about the electricity market, so that's not even an option.
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline 37.65 degrees... requires a paracetamol.
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline I'm running out of adjectives for "warmed up".
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline "electrified"
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter I KNOW!!!
Дайте Нефть Из Баку
Дайте Нефть Из Баку Slightly lower than 37.65, Sarah.
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline Sorry for my non-serious suggestions, I'm out of words :(

Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Eeew, cazzo... :/
Дайте Нефть Из Баку
Дайте Нефть Из Баку Alright, Vincensiu got the meaning of the sentence but not the word.
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter How stupid I am!! In Indo we called it bird as well!! Thats what my flatmate meant!!! Not pussy but cock!
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Hey Jua, Come on, do you want water or egg or grape? Or do you want a cooked bird..?

With sexual innuendo; e.g. penis and girl?
Дайте Нефть Из Баку
Дайте Нефть Из Баку Unfortunately, this only gets things even more complicated.
Back to the missing word: I'm sitting perfectly still, nowhere near a source of heat. Yet, I'm warm inside. I must be... ?

This is starting to look like an Ancient Era riddle.
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Excited!?
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Content?
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Pleased?
Дайте Нефть Из Баку
Дайте Нефть Из Баку We're all warm right now, because we are... ?
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Comfortable?
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Alive??
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Active?
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Not freezing to death?
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Hey Jua. Come on do you want water egg or grape? Or do you want live bird?
Дайте Нефть Из Баку
Дайте Нефть Из Баку Someone buy Vincensiu a drink!
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström ... :/
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström The literal translation is "alive"? :P
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Ok this is soooo embarassing!! Very very embarassing. Arief Wibowo will wake up tomorrow and read all of these post. And then he will laugh at me. For not being able to get this riddle in the first place....
Cazzo... death... live.... omg.
Im very related to all of that... so embarassing!!
Дайте Нефть Из Баку
Дайте Нефть Из Баку Nope, it's "alive". If an animal is warm inside it means it's alive, for buck's sake! :D
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Still so embarassing.... especially Im at work atm....
Anyway I gotta go back to work. Break is over.
Дайте Нефть Из Баку
Дайте Нефть Из Баку Contextualization: Italian slang uses "uccello" (lit.: bird) as a derogatory term for the penis.
The person talking in the sentence is getting annoyed because John doesn't know what he wants. He finally snaps and says: "ye want (my) live bird then?!"
Matteo Cheri
Matteo Cheri Дайте http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMxH7JLVdhc yep
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Finally, everything is over!!
My dreadful shift is over and this dreadful round is over!!
Yaaay!!

Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter I'm still feeling embarassed... Arief don't laugh at me :S
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Well, firstly, welcome to the game, Audrey Miller :)

I see you all have fun guessing the ['ìa]... Who's the winner btw? Nobody seem to write the full sentence yet :P

To Vincensiu Dionisiu (and all of you), http://youtu.be/BdvUR67nZs0 :P
Christian James Meredith
Christian James Meredith @Dayte don't worry I'm in my 20's.
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo To celebrate the end of 12th Språkspelet/Sprogspelet Facebook post*, I tweaked the website to count continuous posts posted by a same poster as one.
(see the attached screenshot)

This way, posting many short posts won't affect the ratings.

This change reduces ratings of some rounds because number of posts is hammered down.
The hardest round (?107) was rated 5853, now 5516.

*) just an excuse to make me feel better for slacking off my work :P
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Brother Matteo Cheri, you have a winner to declare :)
Дайте Нефть Из Баку
Дайте Нефть Из Баку Vincensiu wrote the complete sentence some posts ago, so, by the law of stjälcuri, he's the winner of this round.
