Billy James Brightraven I wonder if Tuss is cognate to Swedish tös, they're quite similar in meaning and sound.
Sarah Karoline I've just logged on to do some Polish, and had a surprise that two rounds have finished in one afternoon. Were these the quickest rounds so far?! I shall have to sit out of the Rödkäppchen story though...
Arief Wibowo Welcome back, Maria Weidner!!!
Sarah Karoline, we brought down the rating down after Criminal Baby

Arief Wibowo My quick (40 minutes ) take on the 2nd paragraph:
The [seim] mothers had the [ma] said [dem] should to [besoffene] grandmother [latschen] and concrete/real white bread
and a bottle of Schnaps the deal, I swear!

and a bottle of Schnaps the deal, I swear!
Maria Weidner Before I go to bed I'll do a quick check! Mothers are too many, dem seim is one one word in English, the deal is wrong, the rest is right!
Christian James Meredith Ah shit I forgot about 2.2! Mikkel Ramzuiv Pittmann Wilson, thanks for one hell of a ride (even if I jumped off the roller coaster while it was still going and reincarnated as a safety inspector)
Christian James Meredith I'd like to be able to say "I'm out" but apparently my German isn't good enough yet to be able to get > half straight away
Andy Ayres since I don't think this got brought up and we don't have a glossary yet from what I can tell:
NSIH = http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/n%C3%A4ra_skjuter_ingen_hare
Which was a round in itself before
(also, stjälcuri and variants = "utilise the fruits of cooperation to win a round" = steal prior progress and win
And ställa and variants are just a word that gets thrown around, thanks to another round from the resident Swedes which involved a sentence full of ställ-)

With guesswork and Wiktionary:
"There was once a hot (Tuss), who always wore such perversely red woolen mittens, __________"
Then their mother had them (ma?) said them should latch to a drunken Grandma and get a concrete Whitebread and Flashy Schnaps, _____"
WAS IST DIESER. MEIN KOPF, ES HURZT.

Arief Wibowo Christian James Meredith, I swear to the best of my knowledge and ability that the ending of each sentence is I swear
Christian James Meredith But zat vuld nein sense gemacht bekaus az ve alle knowen das Deutschern sprechen alväys mit precision und ackuracy, und "isch schwör" vuld be zuch ein lazig väy zu sprechen :O
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter My fireworks card is a bit out of date though, I was saving it for NY round, but who would have guess that we would be stucked in Japan?
Justyna Rojek Ok, is it 'There was once a dissolute Tuss (it's a name) , who always wore such perversely, red, wollen mittens, I swear! The (his) mother had said him that he should latch to a drunken grandmother a concrete white bread and a bottle of vodka to take care of her (?), I swear!'
Maria Weidner Good Morning! Went out yesterday so it got a little late ;). Let's see what we've got.
Maria Weidner Justyna Rojek Dissolute is wrong, Tuss is not a name, mittens is also wrong.latch is wrong as well. And take care of her is..wrong!
Maria Weidner ChristianThere was once a hot (Tuss), who always wore such perversely red woolen mittens, everything is right, but no mittens Then their mother had them (ma?) said them should latch to a drunken Grandma and get a concrete Whitebread and Flashy Schnaps, _____"
them is wrong, get needs an indirect object, flashy is more than wrong!
them is wrong, get needs an indirect object, flashy is more than wrong!
Arief Wibowo I think Flaschem is flask (hence I translated into bottle)
I can't find any info about Tuss... But it made me remember Puss in Boots

Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Maria If it's not too troublesome for you, would you mind editing your comment in the previous round and post the whole answer from Andy Ayres' round there?
So we can tag it to the sprogspelet website
cheers.
But don't bother if it's really difficult to find that post again in this long thread

Billy James Brightraven *cough close probable cognste in Swedish tös cough look it up cough Norwegian loanword is closer in meaning to the German word cough*
Maria Weidner When I think that you've gone, black shadow that covers me, at the foot of my pillows, you return, joking about me When I imagine that youhave gone, you show yourself to me in the same sun, you are the star that shines, you are the wind that hums
Arief Wibowo Uhm, I thought Tuss != girl?
Otherwise, Tuss = lass, looks similar (doesn't sound similar, but looked similar )

Arief Wibowo (Maria Weidner, you've got to edit the previous comment from 15 hours ago, not as new comment as it will send the Sprogspelet system into blackhole )
Christian James Meredith It was the -ern for me that made me think of something other than a flask :-/
"Said to them" on the subject of dem (I knew dem was an object of sorts, I guess that's a start )

Arief Wibowo There was once a hot girl, who always wore such perversely red wollen cap, I swear! [...]
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Christian I can't see your comment here in the thread. Did you happen to block me? :p

Arief Wibowo When Facebook is on drugs, but

Justyna Rojek There was once a hot girl who always had such perversely, red, wollen bonnet worn, I swear! The (her) mother had said her that she should slouch/traipse to a drunken grandmother a concrete white bread and a bottle of vodka to look after her,I swear!' maybe?
Christian James Meredith Arief Wibowo das ist even wurst :O
Maria Weidner I assumed so (there's no one else to talk to apart from Tuss the sexy person ). We Australians love to use "them" as a catch-all 3rd person pronoun (like "you" instead of "thou", and we're even slowly using "we" similarly as a sort of "inclusive first person singular pronoun")

Arief Wibowo My research into latschen brought up this nice pine: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bergkiefer
Andy Ayres "There was once a hot girl who always wore such a perverse red woolen bonnet, I swear.
Her mother told her to traipse to her drunken grandma to bring her a concrete white bread and a bottle of schnapps, I swear!"

Justyna Rojek yes, sorry, but I'm on my mobile and I have to update all the time, and sometimes don't see some of the last comments
Andy Ayres That is a funny variant of Red riding hood :D! I got most of it, but the dialect threw me off a little, what kind of German is that out of interest, Maria :)?
Christian James Meredith CJMV (like KJV but more controversial):
"Thar were once a bonnie guid lookin' lass who always wore a ruddy woolen bonnet so perverse it burnt me eyes out, I swear, Sean.
So anyway, 'er mo'r gone told 'er to wend 'roond tae'r gran' mo'r tae brang'er a whitbread ma'e o' concrete, an' a botteil o' schnapps, I'm tellin' ya the truth me old buddeh!"

Arief Wibowo Turkish-German? I wouldn't have guessed it

Andy Ayres Interesting! The "isch" had me thinking that it was Schwäbisch or some other strange Alemmanic dialect :D.
