Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Round 227:
X: ราคาเท่าไรครับ?
Y: หนึ่งร้อยยี่สิบห้า
Anna Robbins
Anna Robbins Congratulations Vincensiu! I did not wake up in time to participate much, so I've just been watching the end of the round :p
Ed Blankenship
Ed Blankenship Are we allowed to just hop in?
Adrian Baxt-Dent
Adrian Baxt-Dent People certainly do Eddie. Be aware of the <5 minute rule though.
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Definitely, Eddie Blankenship, this is a free-to-play game! Welcome to the game :)
Ed Blankenship
Ed Blankenship What's the <5 min rule?
I've watched through some the the games before... I've just never participated
Adrian Baxt-Dent
Adrian Baxt-Dent If you think you can solve the passage in less than five minutes, let other people have a good go at it first.
Ed Blankenship
Ed Blankenship ok... i didn't know about that rule...
Adrian Baxt-Dent
Adrian Baxt-Dent i.e., becuse of experience with the language.
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Adrian, I was in the middle of typing that :)

Eddie: check : http://sprogspelet.arwi.im/rules/

Regarding the current round:
No transliteration from me. That's all you got. It's pretty short and simple, so no further info provided.
Lycka till!
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Ah yes, two things to know:
1. No Google Translate (you might've known about this)
2. If you can solve the Challenge with minimal effort (rule of thumb: < 5 mins), you shouldn’t join the round directly*. :)
* you may co-moderate the round, give hints, make everybody happy :)
Adrian Baxt-Dent
Adrian Baxt-Dent So far, I don't even recognise teh language.
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Adrian Baxt-Dent, the script is very peculiar... *hint hint hint*
Ed Blankenship
Ed Blankenship Well the script looks like Thai... although that tdoesn't make it in Thai...
Adrian Baxt-Dent
Adrian Baxt-Dent I think I used to work with a girl who would read this in the tea room. All I could say was that she was Asian. Could well have been Thai.
Although.... maybe the language she was reading was more rounded and swirly.... :/
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo A help for those who somehow can't see the text:
Billy James Brightraven
Billy James Brightraven http://www.omniglot.com/writing/thai.htm
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter The Y part in the picture that Arief posted is slightly distorted, so I'm posting another picture here:
Ed Blankenship
Ed Blankenship This is probably a terrible transliteration (partially because there were some symbols in the second line that I'm not sure if they're tones or vowels) but...
X: rakhatauraikap
Y: hninhra'yyilibha

(Most of those /i/ in the second line might be tone markers and not vowels)... I know Thai doesn't use spaces, so I'm not sure where the word breaks are but.... maybe this helps? I also don't know how to mark tones in transliteration for Thai... Sorry.
Ed Blankenship
Ed Blankenship oh this helps now...
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo So it's indeed phasa thai in àksǒn thai:
X: How much is this?
Y: 125
--
raa khaa = price; tariff; fare; cost; [coinage] denomination
thao rai = ...how much? ... how many?; to that extent
khrap = [word added by a male speaker to the end of every sentence to convey politeness or] "yes"; "that's right"; "I see."
neung raawy = 100
yee sip haa = 25

All thanks to my new Thai best friend: http://thai-language.com/
Ed Blankenship
Ed Blankenship Ok... So I messed up...
X: rakhatauraikrap
Y: hninhruyyisibha
Ed Blankenship
Ed Blankenship oh... you gave the answer
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Eddie Blankenship, now comes the wait for confirmation... :)
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Good work Eddie,
Personally, I found that transliteration won't help much in translating them into English.
Transliteration will be helping in determining where the character should break.... since Thai is written without space
Arief only misses 1 word
Zev Brȹk
Zev Brȹk Did that really take you more than five minutes, Arief? ;) But no matter, since you've gotten it completely right.
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo It did, guessing word splits without space isn't an easy task :)
I still miss one word though... :/
Which I guess is khrap/krap
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo X: How much is this, please?
Y: 125
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Nope!
well, you did miss khrap, but I don't expect you to translate that. There's another word that you miss!
And your final sentence in part X does not correspond to the word that you find (which you have listed in the original comment)
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo I thought that "how much is the price/tariff/fare/cost?" can be safely shortened to "how much is this"? :P
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Ok, I personally prefer: How much is the price
Now for part Y:
compare your transliteration to Eddie's
what does he have that you don't have?
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Analyzing hninhruyyisibha:
neung raawy yee sip haa
hninh ruy yi sib ha

I am somewhat confident that it means one hundred twenty five, as Thai numbers correlate with Chinese... :P
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter OOOPSSS.... my fault!!
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Oh no, by any chance you were the one missing a word...? :P
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter I forgot to type the last word...
OMG this is so embarassing.....
So sorry... :(
Big apology.....

part Y should be: หนึ่งร้อยยี่สิบห้าบาท (125 Baht)
But I forgot to add the last part.
OK to make it fair, post the final answer to make it official....
so sorry :( :(
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo X: How much does this cost?
Y: 125
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Or with the missed finale:
X: How much does this cost?
Y: 125 THB
// Note to Referees: we shouldn't tag this in our website to correspond with the original challenge :)
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Arief, congratulations for your 24th winning, and good to see you hosting again after 51 rounds!!!!
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Yaaaaaaaaay!!! I shall go to sleep now. No new rounds anymore...
