Дайте Нефть Из Баку Ah, what the heck. Let's just keep the stone rolling:
Навоз вы едите! Миллионы мух не могут ошибаться!
Навоз вы едите! Миллионы мух не могут ошибаться!
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Русский, just what I have expected.
Navoz vi jedite! millioni mux nje mogut oshibatsja
Navoz vi (single)! (Million) mux (not) mogut oshibatsja
Navoz vi jedite! millioni mux nje mogut oshibatsja
Navoz vi (single)! (Million) mux (not) mogut oshibatsja
Дайте Нефть Из Баку "Eдите" is not "single", and transliterated "мух" is not "mux". The rest is alright.
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter mogu - I can in Serbian...
Navoz (you) (single)! (Million) mux (cannot) oshibatsja
Navoz (you) (single)! (Million) mux (cannot) oshibatsja
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter how do you transliterate /x/ then??
I thought Russian "x" = Castillian Spanish "J"
I thought Russian "x" = Castillian Spanish "J"
Дайте Нефть Из Баку Yep, but the correct transliteration is "ch" (or "kh", if you like to go with the English model).
Abel Aabel That sentence is really popular here, we just say "shit" instead of manure. We also say "shit is good, millions of flies cannot be wrong".
Дайте Нефть Из Баку Vincensiu got it again. The sentence is a translation from a book by comedian Marcello Marchesi: "mangiate merda! Milioni di mosche non possono sbagliare!"
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter I am planning to try surstromming one day, don't you worry prof emeritus
Sarah Karoline Victor I was going to comment on Nordic meals, but I thought it'd be better coming from a local rather than a visitor! hahaha
Sarah Karoline "Just eat the shark! Don't worry it's been buried underground for 3 months. It's not gone off, elskling"
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter Has any of you Europeans heard about durian?
Maria Weidner might have maybe :p
It's a divine fruit!! I haven't had it for years

Sarah Karoline I've heard of it, Vincensiu. Unsurprisingly I've not eaten it. I think the reaction to Durian is the same as the reaction to Marmite!
Victor: I'm missing prawn and avocado sandwich. Forgot the Swedish word for "avocado".
Victor: I'm missing prawn and avocado sandwich. Forgot the Swedish word for "avocado".
Sarah Karoline Victor: hahaha! I thought there was a special name for the sandwich with prawns and avocado in. It's not got "räkor" or "avokcado" in the title.
Abel Aabel In the past lizards and turtles were commonly eaten here. Some recipes were even served in restaurants. Now it's illegal to hunt them for food for conservational reasons, but some people still eat them.
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Ah, I see, they might have different terms than down here. A "landgång" of sorts, maybe?
Дайте Нефть Из Баку Be honest, Victor: on a scale of "meh" to "cleanse it with napalm" how much disgusting is surströmming?
Sarah Karoline Victor: I have a feeling it started with "Marie.....smörgås" Hm.. Google doesn't know either! I don't remember "landgång". I had to look that up as I envisaged a runway... hahaha
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström I haven't eaten it myself, it's a bit regional. But I've been close to it:
"Seal it off with nuclear waste for the safety of future generations"
"Seal it off with nuclear waste for the safety of future generations"
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström No. It is nothing like marmite! Marmite isn't forbidden in public areas!
Abel Aabel "Entomatá de lagarto" (lizard with tomato sauce):
http://www.madrigaldelavera.net/gastronomia/principales/entomata-de-lagartos/
There is also "lagarto en salsa verde" (lizard in green sauce):
https://www.google.es/search?biw=1024&bih=602&q=lagarto_en_salsa_verde

Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Yes, that's how I'd describe crocodile, as well! Quite tasty! Way better than ostrich.
Marius Vincenzii Dennischter what's wrong with marmite/vegemite Sarah Karoline ?
They don't smell bad, just salty.
And it's quite fun to see kids' reaction when you gave them a jar of vegemite and tell them "want some chocolate?" hahahaha
This far, of all so called disgusting food I have tried durians(my favourite), natto, terasi/blacan, and I got no problem with them.
My problem is salami extremely disgusting!! and I nearly vomited when I smell them in pizzeria....
p.s. I've been a pescetarian for 5 years now

Дайте Нефть Из Баку Marmite isn't forbidden aboard planes, unlike surströmming.
Sarah: maybe it was some kind of smörgåstårta?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sm%C3%B6rg%C3%A5st%C3%A5rta
Vincensiu: give us something to translate before we degenerate even further!

Vincensiu: give us something to translate before we degenerate even further!
Sarah Karoline David: It was a mini smörgåstårta in the shape of a bread bun! lol But the contents were the same as in the cake!
Abel Aabel The original recipes for Valencian paella usually had meat, and they often included water vole ( Arvicola Sapidus : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southwestern_water_vole ). Nowadays it sounds disgusting for our ear since the word for water vole in Spanish is "water rat" (rata de agua). The Latin name of Iberian water vole actually says it's edible and tasty ("sapidus" means tasty in Latin).
Sarah Karoline Vincensiu: There is something about the consistency and colour of it that does not seem appetising. It looks like Ronseal too! (Something you paint fence with!)
Perhaps Marmite/Vegemite is so offensive to some of us because it looks like it shoudl be chocolate, but it doesn't smell like chocolate.
Rotten shark probably tastes better!
I think I hit sub-zero degeneration hours ago!

Abel Aabel When people imagine a paella they usually imagine a colourful tasty dish with rice and all kinds of seafood. Telling them the original recipe had rat would spoil everything.
