Christian James Meredith
Christian James Meredith That phrase seems really familiar now that I think about it. I think I've heard of the translated version before (explained to me because Javanese goes over my head faster than an F14 tomcat).

I'll go for a bit of a creative phrase as an English speaker, although most British people will probably get it immediately unfortunately (sorry, I can't think of any good Australian native ones! We're too boring!):

"As far as my skin and blister's concerned, I'm a merchant banker."
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Maha. :P
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Christian James Meredith, I guess it shouldn't be in English, so it can be translated into English :D
Christian James Meredith
Christian James Meredith You can translate the meaning at least :P
Christian James Meredith
Christian James Meredith I don't know many phrases in other languages like these, otherwise one of you guys can take my turn ;-)
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo No worries, I am thinking of it as we speak
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo skin and blister might mean experience
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo My experience is as much as a merchant banker?
Malin Elisabeth Nilsson
Malin Elisabeth Nilsson As far as I know, Im a merchant banker?
Christian James Meredith
Christian James Meredith Haha, great intuition but not correct in this case ;-) (let's just say that semantics are not quite meaningful in this phrase)
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo skin and blist er
merch ant bank er
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Why does it sound like Cockney rhyming slang
Christian James Meredith
Christian James Meredith Barely need me for hints anymore now ;-)
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo So it is cockney! Uh oh
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo If I say skinandblister, it sounds like spinster
As far as my spinster is concerned, ...
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Now what would "merchantbanker" sound like.....
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo Hint please, Christian James Meredith :D
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo As far as my spinster is concerned, I am a murderer?
It doesn't even make sense
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Christian, yeah, as far as my sister's concerned, I'm a wanker...
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström I really did Adam and Eve you'd get it. Didn't need a didgeridoo on that one. :P
Christian James Meredith
Christian James Meredith Whoops sorry, I went to have a quick read of something and it turned into a long one!
And yes, Victor got it!

The key to these things is normally on the second word, on everything minus the start of the word. So skin and blISTER, merchant bANKER.

It's a cruel one I think, even English speakers sometimes don't realise the connection, but once you've seen it it's very easy. For example, I have literally no idea what Victor has said there about Adam and Eve's didgeridoo. :P
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo I know Adam and Eve is believe
Christian James Meredith
Christian James Meredith I'm going with didgeridoo = redo. Or he literally means a didgerdoo, which would also make good sense. Everyone needs a didgerdoo.
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Didgeridoo means clue. Haven't got a didgeridoo. :P
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo I see... Hahahaha
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström I happen to love rhyming slang, I'm really bad at it, but I remember some phrases. :P
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo I am going to immerse myself in this website: http://www.cockneyrhymingslang.co.uk/
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo So I can be Robin Hood in this :P
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström
Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström Haha, seriously?! :P Brits...
Arief Wibowo
Arief Wibowo By the way, it's your turn to give us a sentence, Victor Wåhlstrand Skärström :)
