Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline BIENVENUE BEI DET 253. Sprogspelet/språkspilið/sprogspielið/málspielið!

The game was started by Malin in summer 2013. More information can be found at the game's website http://sprogspelet.arwi.im/, which has been created by Arief.

Some say that playing this game will help you locate dragons and bake Danish pastry. All I know is that the following is today's text, the topic of which is electrons. The majority of the words are the same as in English!

Enjoy!
---
Electron est particula elementaria [Latin], das
negativ geladenen ist. [German]

Elektronen tillhör partikelgruppen leptoner. [Swedish]

Das Elektron ist das leichteste der elektrisch geladenen Elementarteilchen; [German]
en proton är cirka 1 836 gånger tyngre än elektronen. [Swedish]

La maggior parte degli elettroni presenti nell'universo è stata creata durante il Big Bang. [Italian]
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline Tagging: Vincensiu Christian Billy Andy Wrik Ed Jake
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline Дайте Anna Victor Usally I can't tag Anna, but today I can't tag Adrian, Kevin or Helene ..
Kevin Long
Kevin Long Electrons are an elementary particle
which is negatively charged
Electrons belong to the particle group [leptoner]

The electron is the lightest of the electrically charged subatomic particles
a proton is around 1836 [gånger tyngre] than the electron

Most of the electrons present nowadays were created during the Big Bang
Kevin Long
Kevin Long Okay, I've set it up. Now someone be my Götze!
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline First of all, welcome back to the game! :)

All your translated terms are perfect. There are just four words to be translated, and these are bracketed.

Electrons are an elementary particle
which {is} negatively charged.
Electrons belong to the particle group [leptoner]

The electron is the lightest of the electrically charged [subatomic] particles,
a proton is around 1836 [gånger tyngre] than the electron

Most of the electrons present [nell'universo] nowadays were created during the Big Bang.
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline p.s. that was quite possibly the fastest translation!
Kevin Long
Kevin Long I was just lucky that it was the first post on my newsfeed :P
Brad Wilson
Brad Wilson Looks like fun, but being an engineer, I was able to read this easily (despite not knowing these languages). I'll have to sit out. :-)
Kevin Long
Kevin Long I just realised that [Nell'universo] is probably 'In the universe'
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline Sorry, I wasn't able to tag you, Brad, although you know the text off by heart :) [Now I can tag you!]
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline Yes, "nell'universo" is "in the universe" :)
Brad Wilson
Brad Wilson Too bad, I really like Danish pastries.
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline Here's a "Wienerbrød" for enthusiasm to play the game! haha http://oppskrift.klikk.no/multimedia/2008.08.27/50575584d05abede063dec35/Wienerbr%C3%B8d_BIG.jpg
Anna Robbins
Anna Robbins If I could locate a dragon or bake a Danish pastry, I would be quite happy. But as I can understand the entire text and still haven't found a dragon, I'll pass on participation. xD I'll try to tag, though.

Дайте , Helene , and I can't seem to tag anyone else, either D:
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline Now the only words we're looking for are "leptoner" and "gånger tyngre".
I believe the first word is a few letters longer than the English word and the third word has a "u-er" in German.
Anna Robbins
Anna Robbins I still understand those words, too, so I'm staying out unless you guys really get stuck ;)
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline Here's a Wienerbrød for you too, Anna. Sadly, I can't locate the dragon either. Thanks for the tagging! http://oppskrift.klikk.no/multimedia/2008.08.27/50575584d05abede063dec35/Wienerbr%C3%B8d_BIG.jpg
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline Summary of what we have so far. Only four words to translate and the game belongs to someone else.... Who'll take up the challenge before the dragon flies?

Electrons are an elementary particle
which is negatively charged.
Electrons belong to the particle group [leptoner]

The electron is the lightest of the electrically charged [subatomic] particles,
a proton is around 1836 [gånger tyngre] than the electron

Most of the electrons present in the universe nowadays were created during the Big Bang.
Brad Wilson
Brad Wilson That second line has nothing about "subatomic particle", just "das negativ geladenen ist"
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline I had to edit the second clause after Kevin's translation and the original line did have "elementary particle" in it, so I left it in the translation. :)

I'll fix it.
Brad Wilson
Brad Wilson But the statement "Electrons are an elementary particle with a negatively charged subatomic particle" doesn't make sense. Electrons ARE subatomic particles, so WITH doesn't make sense. (Sorry, it's the scientist in me)
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline I've edited my review based on Kevin's edited translation now. :)
Helene Wiinholt
Helene Wiinholt I'm stuck in a train straight from the airport. And seeing as I've been listening to Swedish for the past few hours, I'm not sure if I'm allowed to help out.
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline Hm...now there only Swedish words left, I guess it would be cheating. Unless we pretend they're Frisian words!
Brad Wilson
Brad Wilson [leptoner] comes from Greek and doesn't really need translation into English
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline I agree, no translation needed. We just an English plural ending and that's one word out of the way!
Wrik Chatterjee
Wrik Chatterjee leptons
Wrik Chatterjee
Wrik Chatterjee I coulda sworn that this round would have been in Tibetan.
Anna Robbins
Anna Robbins The wienerbrød is appreciated :D
Billy James Brightraven
Billy James Brightraven Purely on context, I believe the "Frisian" is to be translated as "times heavier" :v

Thus,

The electron is an elementary particle, which is negatively charged. The electron belongs to the lepton group of particles. The electron is the least heavy of the electrically charged elemental particles. A proton is approximately 1836 times heavier than the electron. The majority of the electrons extant in the universe were created during the Big Bang.
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline And I proclaim Billy the winner of this round!!
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline And to Kevin Yong I would also like to say
Anna Robbins
Anna Robbins Grattis, Billy! I'm impressed by your knowledge of Frisian :P
Sarah Karoline
Sarah Karoline Billy's knowledge of Frisian is most impressive..... :)
