Christian James Meredith @ Dayte well... technically not (they're not cognates). It's actually equivalent to German "ab" (op = auf = up instead). However the usage may be the same.

Christian James Meredith Arief Wibowo almost there, the last bit needs a bit of tweaking to make sense in the original English - think about what comes off a banana when you peel it, and think about what the verb is for when that happens to an animal, and you've got it.
